the space between places

spare key returns with the space between places, the second full-length album and latest installment in the ongoing the space between series. the record expands on themes of transition, distance, and the quiet revelations that happen while in motion.

written across cities, coastlines, and oceans, the space between places traces a journey from coast to island and onwards. many of the tracks began during a period of personal and geographic transition, sketched in moments of movement and uncertainty. it wasn’t until coming to a halt that the album was finally able to take shape.

balancing propulsion with stillness, the record lives in the in-between — where endings blur into beginnings and motion gives way to clarity.

the space between words

"the space between words" is an ambient electronic compilation of music that uses sound design and electronic music production to  expand forms of expression during a time when words seemed so elusive. This is the first full length release from Mat Larimer's electronic project, Spare Key. "the space between words" is the first in a series of work that explores the importance of transition and process. it is not about where you start or where you end up but rather the space between these two points.
